Where are you based?

Griffiths & Hutchins Publications Ltd’s registered address is Lytchett House, 13 Freeland Park, Wareham Road, Poole, Dorset, BH16 6FA. Please note this address is not open to the public.

If you need to return an order to us, we will provide a different postal address to you.

Can I place an order as a gift?

Yes, please contact us before you place the order and we will ensure that the invoice is not included in the package when it is despatched. We will instead send the invoice to you by email, at the time that the order is despatched.

What happens if I am not at home when delivery is attempted?

A signature is required for the order to be delivered. If nobody is available to sign for the package, it will be taken to a collection point. A card with further instructions on picking up the package or rearranging delivery will be left at your delivery address.

How much is delivery?

All orders are despatched using Royal Mail’s 1st Class Recorded Delivery service. The cost of delivery will vary depending on the weight and size of the order, and the delivery charge includes the cost of packaging.

We only offer a delivery service on all orders placed through this website.

Do I need to register to place an order?

No, you can place an order by going through the checkout as a guest. You will still need to provide some basic contact details so we can send the order confirmation, and any further updates on the order, to you. 

Registering on the website means you will be able to use the website more quickly and easily next time, as we will be able to remember your preferences.

Do you offer any discounts?

We offer bulk discounts when three or more price books are ordered together. Details of how much you will save are shown on the product page. 

We also offer a £10 discount (one per customer per order) to customers who sign up to our mailing list. You can do this by filling in the form at the bottom of this page.

How and when do I pay for my order?

All orders are paid for at the time of placing the order. We accept all major credit and debit cards.

Do you deliver outside of the UK?

We only offer delivery to addresses in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and the Isle of Man. We may accept orders outside of these areas, for example the Channel Islands, but you will be responsible for paying any import duties or other taxes, as we will not pay them. 

We will not normally accept international orders. Feel free to get in touch to check if delivery to your location is possible.

Will I receive an order confirmation?

Once your order is accepted, you will receive a confirmation email outlining the details of your order. If you haven’t received this within a few minutes of placing the order, check your spam or junk inbox.

When will my order be delivered?

If your order is placed before noon, we will aim to despatch your goods on the same working day. If your order is placed after noon, we will aim to despatch no later than the next working day. All our orders are despatched using Royal Mail’s 1st Class Recorded Delivery service, usually offering next day delivery.

How do you update your prices?

We use a range of sources to ensure our prices are up-to-date, accurate and reliable.

The prices of plant hire and materials are sourced from a range of manufacturers, merchants and suppliers, and are intended to represent a UK-average. For the 2020 editions of the price books, these are current at second quarter 2019.

Our price books include a section on location factors so estimates can be made more accurate based on the location of the project.

Our labour price calculations incorporate current wage agreements provided by the Construction Industry Joint Council (CIJC), the Joint Industry Board for Plumbing and Mechanical Engineering Services (JIB-PMES), and the Building and Allied Trades Joint Industrial Council (BATJIC).

We also provide current figures for relevant charges such as Landfill Tax.

How do I know which is the right price book for me?

Feel free to get in touch any time if you’d like to discuss which of our products would be most suitable for your needs.

As a guide, Griffiths Building & Civil Engineering Price Book is aimed at those pricing mid-scale new building work projects up to £1m in value and mid to small-scale alterations and repairs projects up to £50,000 in trade order.

Hutchins Priced Schedules Price Book is ideal for small works construction and maintenance work, and contains a detailed section on local authority grant aided construction works. It is aimed at those working on new-build projects up to the value of around £250,000.

For those working in trades covered by both publications, labour costs provided in Griffiths incorporate wage rates agreed by the Construction Industry Joint Council (CIJC) and the Joint Industry Board for Plumbing and Mechanical Engineering Services (JIB-PMES), while Hutchins incorporates agreements by the Building and Allied Trades Joint Industrial Council (BATJIC) and JIB-PMES.
